Sodium Taurocholate Co-transporting Polypeptide (NTCP) is a liver-specific bile salt uptake transporter, which also serves as the entry receptor for HBV and HDV. By selectively targeting NTCP, we effectively block HBV/HDV viral infection and mitigate hepatic bile salt-mediated liver injury. Our proprietary orally bioavailable lead candidate has demonstrated compelling preclinical efficacy, completely preventing HBV infection in a humanized liver mouse model and markedly reducing liver damage in cholestasis models, and good tolerability.
